Global NAVIGATION Satellite System Contribution for Observing the Tectonic Plate Movements: Status and Perspectives

چکیده
The long-term monitoring of land movements represents the most successful application Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), particularly Positioning System. However, long term depends on availability homogenous and consistent daily position time series stations over a period time. Such can be produced very efficiently by using Precise Point Double Difference techniques based particular sophisticated GNSS processing softwares. Nonetheless, these rely products which are precise satellite orbit clock, Earth orientation parameters. Unfortunately, several changes modifications have been made periodically policy producing led to degradation in consistency For movements, it is essential that any such developments also used produce improved go back time, enable homogeneous reprocessing archived observation data. This paper deals with two main themes. Firstly, demonstrates significant imperative role geological applications addressing major global regional studies Earth’s deformation represent one geodesy. continues GPS measurements this highlighted discussed for modeling plate motions Glacial Isostatic Adjustment. Secondly, locates important obstacles stand behind inability use movements.

Global navigation satellite systems
Global positioning systems first became available for private use in 1995. Since the introduction of NAVSTAR-GPS (Navigation System with Time and Ranging–Global Positioning System) and GLONASS (Globaluaya Navigatsionnaya Sputnikovaya Sistema, Global Navigation Satellite System), such systems have quickly become indispensable in a wide range of applications. Above all, GPS is used today by a lar...
متن کاملThe ionosphere , radio navigation , and global navigation satellite systems
This article is a review of Global Navigation Satellite Systems for space scientists who are interested in how GNSS signals and observables can be used to understand ionospheric dynamics and, conversely, how ionospheric dynamics affect the operational capabilities of GPS. The most common form of GNSS is the Global Positioning System (GPS); we will first review its operating principles and then ...

Information about wetland dynamics remains a major missing gap in characterizing, understanding, and projecting changes in atmospheric methane and terrestrial water storage. A review of current satellite methods to delineate and monitor wetland change shows some recent advances, but much improved sensing technologies are still needed for wetland mapping, not only to provide more accurate global...

Valentine and Moores [Valentine JW, Moores EM (1970) Nature 228:657-659] hypothesized that plate tectonics regulates global biodiversity by changing the geographic arrangement of continental crust, but the data required to fully test the hypothesis were not available. Here, we use a global database of marine animal fossil occurrences and a paleogeographic reconstruction model to test the hypoth...
متن کاملComprehensive Comparisons of Satellite Data, Signals, and Measurements between the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System and the Global Positioning System †
The Chinese BeiDou navigation satellite system (BDS) aims to provide global positioning service by 2020. The combined use of BDS and Global Positioning System (GPS) is proposed to provide navigation service with more stringent requirements. Actual satellite data, signals and measurements were collected for more than one month to analyze the positioning service qualities from both BDS and GPS. I...
